Jamie Marcus

From the age of seven when Jamie Marcus started singing in York Minster as a boy chorister, he knew that music, as well as theatre, was all he wanted to do. The rise from his early days of performing lead roles as The Caliph in 'Kismet' at York's Theatre Royal, to playing Joe Gillis in 'Sunset Boulevard' opposite Elaine Paige at the Adelphi theatre in London's West End, Jamie enjoyed a wonderfully successful acting career, he then made the natural progression into directing and finally producing. Other musical theatre roles include Alex Dillingham in 'Aspects of Love' (Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Stratford), Raoul in 'Phantom Of The Opera' (UK Tour) and Jesus in 'Godspell' (UK Tour). Directing works include 'Little Shop of Horrors' and 'Hair' (Theatre Royal, Lincoln), 'Double Vision' and Murder by Misadventure' (Lyceum Theatre, Crewe).

He set up his first theatre company in 2000 called 'Dreamticket Productions'. This company had three partners including Jamie and toured small-scale theatres with one night musical and Christmas Shows. These included 'Spirit of the Musical' (2000-2002), 'Stage Stars' (2003), and 'A Christmas Cracker' (2003-2005).

In 2007 Jamie decided to set up his own production company. Since then he has produced the play 'Art', the children's show 'Speight of the Art' and the overwhelmingly successful pantomime 'Cinderella', Lincoln Drill Hall's first professional pantomime, which played to almost six thousand people in just two weeks. Jamie also enjoys producing corporate entertainment and in 2008 was delighted to be providing the entertainment for the Lincolnshire Business Awards, being held at the Engine Shed.

2008 was an exciting year for Jamie which saw him produce two spectacular local pantomimes, Aladdin at the Lincoln Drill Hall and Cinderella at the Trinity Arts Centre in Gainsborough breaking box office records at both. Further musical productions included a regional tour of ‘High School Hits’ a fantastic live and interactive pop show and ‘A Night of Musicals’, starring past and current west end performers at the Majestic Theatre Retford.

2009 was another action-packed year for Jamie. He produced a nationwide spring tour of John Godber’s ‘Bouncers’ along with a second successful tour of ‘High School Hits 2’. Jamie was also approached by Lincoln Castle to produce two weekends of entertainment in August of that year. ‘The Adventures of Robin Hood’ and ‘The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged’ were a huge success, prompting a return to Lincoln Castle in Summer 2010.

Christmas 2009 saw Jamie Marcus Productions produce 'Sleeping Beauty and the Dragon Of Fury', Lincoln Drill Hall's third festive pantomime. This production also transferred to Retford's Majestic Theatre for a limited run.

2010 was the company's biggest and most exciting year to date. A full UK tour of the thrilling play 'Misery' by Stephen King, a third successive year of touring 'High School Hits - Prom Night', 5 different productions (The Three Musketeers, Bouncers, From Stage To Screen, Kirsten O'Brien's SMART ART and The Stephen Frost IMPROV All Stars) performed in rep at the '2010 Open-Air Summer Theatre Festival at Lincoln Castle', an outdoor theatre summer season at Gawsworth Hall, as well as an Autumn tour of 'Kirsten O'Brien's SMART ART'.

Christmas 2010 saw JMP bring the wonderful pantomime 'Dick Whittington and his Cunningly Clever Cat' to Lincoln Drill Hall and the Majestic Theatre, Retford. The production received rave reviews and sell-out houses at both theatres.

2011 is set to be another exciting year for Jamie as he prepares for a forth year of 'High School Hits', A spectacular summer theatre festival at Lincoln Castle, as well as another stunning pantomime next Christmas! Keep logging on for more information.

Jamie is thrilled to be in a profession that he loves and will continue to work hard to bring quality and value for money to theatre.
