Majestic
Theatre School
|
The Majestic
Theatre School (MTS) started in September 2004 and was
formed due to the overwhelming number of children that
had enjoyed our majestic summer school 2004.
Within MTS there are two schools, which run on Saturdays
during term time. The main school is for children ages 7
– 16 and the junior school is for ages 5 – 7.
|
 |
Timetable
Main school classes run for three hours and are divided
into one hour of drama, one hour of dance and one hour
of singing.
The junior school class runs for one hour and
incorporates all of the three disciplines.
All classes are taught by highly qualified professional
actor/teachers in a fun and safe environment*. It is
extremely important to us that each child is valued and
included, whatever their academic ability, social
background or talent.

Performance
Each year MTS performs two shows. the first is a
Christmas show or pantomime and our main show is a
summer spectacular held at the wonderful majestic
theatre in Retford. Our summer show 2005 had a live
band, was fully costumed and narrated by Chris Rankin
aka ‘Percy Weasly’ from the ‘Harry potter’ movies.
Also during the 2004/2005 year the MTS children were
involved in the following professional shows at The
Majestic Theatre:
‘Westenders’ (musical theatre)
‘Hansel and Gretel’ – (opera) |
Special Events
As well as having Chris Rankin come to our 2005 summer
show, in January 2005 Lynne Mcranger aka ‘Irene’ from
‘Home and Away’ came to visit the children to talk about
being in a successful soap opera. She gave out signed
autographs and w also had a question and answer session.
Awards
At the end of every summer show, the MTS awards ceremony
takes place. The awards are given to children who have
worked hard and excelled in each of the different
disciplines (drama, dance and singing). Awards are also
given for most promising student and student of the
year.

The future of MTS is extremely bright. We are continuing
to grow and strive to bring the arts and children
together for the highest standards of teaching and
learning. More guest speakers from the world of
television, film and theatre are coming to visit and we
are looking forward to continuing to work with wonderful
young people |
